My Dragon

Who dares call the dragon,

The dragon of my soul,

The serpent of fear, hate and rage,

Who dares call it from the cave of darkness,

Where it waits with eyes of fire,

Born it was of my childhood fears,

Abuse of body and mind,

It flies on wings of resentment,

And breaths the fiery breath of revenge,

Patiently it waits until the time is right,

A separate entity with a mind of its own,

It prays upon the enemies of my safety,

My protector, my lover, my curse,

It feeds on my life’s energies,

The dragon’s services cost me much,

Stabbing pains in my temples and chest,

I hate those with the power over me to call it,

Only I must summon the dragon,

For out of control it is my doom.
